About PJ Swanwick

PJ SwanwickQuick take
: I review spiritual/metaphysical novels on this site. I also research and write about the connection between neuroscience, psychology,  spirituality and enlightenment. I’m a writer, dancer, and yoga addict.

Me: I read every novel I can get my hands on, with a slight list toward science fiction, mysteries, and literature. However, the books that really excite me, the ones that keep me awake until 3 a.m., are novels  with strong spiritual/metaphysical themes. And give me a book that also features a great story and engaging characters, I’ll read until the book falls from my numb, cramped hands.

But great spiritual/metaphysical/visionary novels—or even mediocre ones—are so hard to find! Most spiritual readers have heard of classic novels such as:

  • Way of the Peaceful Warrior by Dan Millman
  • Jonathan Livingston Seagull, Illusions, and other books by Richard Bach
  • The Star Rover by Jack London (bet you never heard of this one, but it’s a great read)
  • The Alchemist and other books by Paulo Coelho
  • The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

Surely there are more great spiritual/metaphysical novels out there, just waiting to be discovered and shared with seekers like you and me. I want a book that grips my emotions as it awakens my spirit. Is that too much to ask for? I think not.

Not actually me, but I can hold Firefly for 30 seconds

My mission: Find spiritual/metaphysical novels, write reviews of the good ones, and share those books as widely as possible. I hope others will recommend bookswrite reviews, and submit books for review, and together we can create a network to share fiction that feeds the spirit.

Oh, you still wonder who I am? Pick your favorite label: technical writer, fiction writer, happily married parent of three, dancer, yoga enthusiast, capoierista. If you need more labels, figure them out for yourself – email me at NewAgeFiction AT gmail DOT com.

  1. Guess what? I’ve nominated you for the Beautiful Blogger Award! If you’re interested, follow the award rules I have posted on my page. If you aren’t into the whole awards thing, then that’s ok, too!

  2. Hi PJ!

I’d love to send you a copy for your review. We have over 9000 fans on Facebook and we could definitely help promote your work, especially since I know our community would really benefit from your writing.

Please let me know if you would like me to send you a DVD and I’ll rush one out.

    FINDING JOE

In the early 20th century, while studying world mythology, Joseph Campbell discovered a pattern hidden in every story ever told and he called it “The Hero’s Journey.” A truly inspirational film, FINDING JOE takes us on the ultimate hero’s journey: the journey of self discovery. Using the mythological teachings of Joseph Campbell, and interviews with visionaries, the film inspires us all to discover our passions and purpose. As you slay dragons and uncover treasures, you just may find that the holy grail you seek is closer than you think. This life changing film is now available on DVD and iTunes.

Featuring: Deepak Chopra, Mick Fleetwood, Tony Hawk, Rashida Jones, Laird Hamilton, Robert Walter, Robin Sharma, Catherine Hardwicke, Sir Ken Robinson, Akiva Goldsman and many more.

    • Thanks, Pricilla. I look forward to seeing “Finding Joe” – Campbell’s always been one of my favorites. He may very well be one of the first visionaries to that led to the development of Visionary fiction.
